| BBC PARTNERS NEW YEAR’S DAY PARADE
BBC London 94.9 has become a major media partner with The New Year’s Day Parade – London, it was announced today (October 6th 2003.)
The Parade – renowned as one of the World’s great traditional seasonal celebrations – will feature widely on BBC London 94.9 – and television, in the run up to the turn of the year.
And the BBC will be given major exposure at the event itself.
“It is a natural fit,” said Executive Director Bob Bone. “It is only right that the World’s best broadcaster should want to join the party. I am delighted that the BBC’s listeners and viewers will be kept right up to date with all the developments.”
More than 20 London boroughs have signed up to participate in the event – which is expected to attract hundreds of thousands spectators on to the streets.
Around 6,500 performers, from half a dozen nations, are due to give the Capital a dazzling display of colour, culture and good old-fashioned razzmatazz.
Paul Leaper, Asst Ed BBC London 94.9 said: “The New Year’s Day Parade is a major part of the festive season and BBC London 94.9 is pleased to be supporting this year’s event. Whether you’re heading to the London streets – or watching and listening at home we hope this year’s Parade will be the best yet’.
