| Lord Mayor's London Invitation
An elite group of high school bands across the United States has received a very special invitation to entertain London at one of the World’s greatest traditional holiday season events.
The New Year’s Day Parade – London, hosted by The Lord Mayor Of Westminster, regularly attracts more than a million people on to the streets of the British capital.
Invitations to perform in the event are highly coveted – and are considered to be a true New Year’s ‘Honour’ for those that receive them.
Band Directors representing over a dozen High Schools across the USA flew to London to receive the prestigious invitations in person.
Former Lord Mayor of Westminster Robert Davis, who wore his ancient official robes of office, attended the ceremony.
Robert Bone, Executive Director of The New Year’s Day Parade – London, said: “It is an honour to receive an invitation from the Lord Mayor – and we are honoured that it should be accepted.”
The New Year’s Day Parade – London, passes through the historic heart of the great city, including Big Ben, Parliament, Downing St, and Trafalgar Square.
The performers will enjoy a rich cultural experience during their stay, meeting many young people from a myriad of countries, visit historic sites, take in a West End Show – then perform before massive crowds on the big day itself.
