| COME JOIN THE PARADE!
One of the World’s great street spectaculars is set to give London the perfect start to 2004.
The New Year’s Day Parade 2004 crowns the capital’s festive season – and you’ve got an extra special invitation.
More than 7,500 performers, representing around a dozen nations, will assemble in the heart of London to rejoice in the hope and happiness that the New Year brings.
The fun-filled event is set to be one of the most colourful, cultural kaleidoscopes ever to grace these shores.
Young people from Europe, Africa, Asia and the USA, will join with London’s finest for three hours of pomp, circumstance and frivolity.
And the people of London have responded in unprecedented numbers.
All 31 boroughs, and the two cities that make up London, are supporting the parade. And 20 local boroughs are submitting entries.
Bob Bone, Executive Director of The New Year’s Day Parade said: “London loves this event – and the word is spreading fast around the World.
“The forthcoming parade will be a truly multi-national, multi-cultural event.”
Global TV coverage of the three-hour spectacle – and word of mouth from the 150,000 performers that have participated over the past 17 years – has ensured the parade’s future success.
In recent years CNN, Fox News, BBC, Sky and CBS networks have beamed live pictures of The New Year’s Day Parade to an estimated audience of 200m.
The Parade – as ever – starts in Parliament Square at 12 Noon, as Big Ben strikes the hour, and proceeds along Whitehall to Trafalgar Sq., Cockspur St., Pall Mall, Lower Regent St, Piccadilly Circus, and Piccadilly.
The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Greater London together with The Lord Mayor of The City Of Westminster will lead the parade along the route.
More than 400,000 people pack the 2.2 mile route eager to soak up the sights and sounds of the best free New Year’s party in the World.
Be sure to arrive early and pick a vantage point to get the best view.
